Biography
Person.
Matthew Le Tissier, commonly known as Matt Le Tissier, is a former footballer closely associated with Southampton. He played for the club from 1986 to 2002, bridging the First Division and Premier League eras. An attacking midfielder, he scored 100 Premier League goals for Southampton.
His long service at a single professional club was recognised in 2015 when Athletic Club of Bilbao made him the first recipient of its One Club Man Award. His place in Southampton's history rests on both that continuity and the goals he contributed during the club's years in the top division.
