Biography

Person.

James Robinson is a British comics writer and screenwriter best known for stories that treat superhero history as something lived with rather than simply inherited. His defining work is Starman, co-created around Jack Knight, a reluctant hero whose relationship with family, place and the accumulated past of earlier costumed characters gave the series an unusually reflective tone.

Robinson has also written extensively for DC on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Justice League of America and Earth 2, alongside work for Marvel and other publishers, and has written for film and television. Early in his American comics career he wrote Blades, the three-part 1992 Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight story drawn by Tim Sale, a compact mystery that places a charismatic new vigilante beside an established Batman.
