Biography
Person.
Joe Jusko is an American painter and illustrator whose work has been central to the meeting point between comics, fantasy art and premium trading-card culture. His painted images have appeared across book covers, comics, posters and commercial illustration, but his 1992 Marvel Masterpieces set became a particularly important demonstration of what trading cards could be when each card was treated as a finished piece of painted character art rather than simply a reproduced panel or publicity image.
Marvel has described those paintings as iconic and as part of the trading-card boom of the 1990s; the set’s imagery has continued to be republished and reinterpreted decades later.
