Robert Smith is a British singer, guitarist and songwriter who leads the Cure. The band emerged from Easy Cure in the late 1970s, releasing Three Imaginary Boys in 1979 and developing a darker, more atmospheric sound on records such as Seventeen Seconds.
His work has moved between expansive albums including Disintegration and accessible pop singles, while his distinctive appearance became inseparable from the band’s public image. He curated the Meltdown festival at London’s Southbank Centre in 2018. For the Cure’s 2024 album Songs of a Lost World, he wrote and arranged the songs and shared production and mixing with Paul Corkett.
