Mick Channon

Mick Channon is a former footballer and racehorse trainer whose sporting career spans two professions. As a forward he played for clubs including Southampton, Manchester City and Norwich City, and scored 21 goals in 46 appearances for England. He became especially associated with Southampton and his distinctive windmill goal celebration.

After football he established a successful racing stable at West Ilsley. His horses included Youmzain, a three-time runner-up in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and major winners such as Piccolo and Zafeen. His son Jack took over the training licence following Channon's retirement in 2022.
