Biography
Person.
Jaimie Warren is an artist born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in 1980, working across photography and performance. Her self-portraits transform her into figures drawn from popular culture, including Boy George, Yoda and Freddy Krueger, using performance to explore exaggerated and unusual identities.
Her individual practice is closely connected to Whoop Dee Doo, the collaborative variety-show and community art project she co-directs. Developed with artists and children, it brings different participants together through performance and handmade spectacle. She has also undertaken residencies and collaborative printmaking, including a 2019 project at Illinois State University’s Normal Editions Workshop.
