Thierry Arbogast

Thierry Arbogast is a French cinematographer closely associated with the films of Luc Besson. His photography for Nikita, Léon and The Fifth Element helped shape a highly stylised strand of French popular cinema, bringing dramatic lighting and carefully controlled colour to crime stories and large-scale action.

His other collaborations include Jean-Paul Rappeneau's The Horseman on the Roof, Patrice Leconte's Ridicule, Nick Cassavetes's She’s So Lovely and Emir Kusturica's Black Cat, White Cat. He has also photographed films by Mathieu Kassovitz and Atiq Rahimi. His career spans intimate drama, historical spectacle and international productions built around elaborate visual worlds.
