Kai von Rabenau

Kai von Rabenau is a photographer, art director and publisher who founded the independent magazine mono.kultur in Berlin. He studied graphic design at Central Saint Martins in London before developing a practice across photography, design and print publishing.

Launched in 2005, mono.kultur devotes each issue to an extended interview with one cultural figure. Its small A5 format provides continuity, while typography, paper and layout change in response to the subject. Von Rabenau has described the magazine as an opportunity to give a conversation room to develop, with the physical design of each edition forming part of the encounter.
