Joe Rosen

Joe Rosen was an American comics letterer whose career extended from the early 1940s into the 1990s. His brother Sam taught him lettering and helped him obtain work on The Blue Beetle at Fox. He subsequently worked for National/DC and Harvey before becoming a regular Marvel contributor.

At Marvel, Rosen lettered titles including Spider-Man, Conan and Daredevil, notably during Frank Miller’s Daredevil run. His compact, clear lettering accommodated dense dialogue while allowing the drawings room on the page. He died in 2009.
