Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys were a New York group whose core members were Michael Diamond, known as Mike D, Adam Horovitz, known as Ad-Rock, and Adam Yauch, known as MCA. Emerging from the city’s hardcore punk scene, they developed a form of hip-hop that combined rapping with rock instrumentation and increasingly elaborate sampling.

Their albums include Licensed to Ill, Paul’s Boutique, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty. They returned to playing live instruments alongside sample-based production and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
