Biography
Person.
Bonnie Cashin (1908–2000) was an American fashion designer whose practical approach helped shape modern sportswear. She designed for Adler & Adler and Twentieth Century-Fox before establishing her own company in 1951, later working with manufacturers including Sills and Co. and Coach.
Her clothes emphasised movement, comfort and combinations that could be layered. Leather edging, metal fastenings and shaped knitwear became characteristic features. She also helped preserve her own design history, contributing to the Brooklyn Museum’s 1962 retrospective Bonnie Cashin Presents Her Living Sketch Book.
