Biography
Person.
Louise Wener is a British singer, songwriter and author who grew up in Ilford, east London. As the lead singer of Sleeper, she became a prominent figure in 1990s guitar pop. The band recorded three top-ten albums during its original run, with songs shaped by her observational writing.
She subsequently turned to fiction, publishing novels including The Half Life of Stars and Worldwide Adventures in Love. After Sleeper reunited, Wener returned to recording and performing with the band. Discussing The Modern Age, she described a more personal approach to songwriting, drawing directly on experiences of adulthood and change.
