Divine

Divine (1945–1988) was the stage name of Harris Glenn Milstead, a Baltimore performer whose work encompassed acting, drag and dance music. His collaboration with John Waters produced a series of films including Multiple Maniacs, Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble and Polyester.

Divine also performed on stage in Women Behind Bars and The Neon Woman and recorded club tracks including Native Love and Shoot Your Shot. His role in Waters’ Hairspray brought his comic acting to a broader audience shortly before his death in 1988.
