Catalogue note

Cover B of Spawn 77 #1, the 2026 miniseries premiere in which Todd McFarlane's original 1977 Spawn design receives its first official comic-book appearance. This edition is physically distinct from TMR-000636, the already accessioned Cover C Original 1977 Update Variant: the present copy is Collect Forever #1B, UPC 70985304854100121, with a Mark Spears/Todd McFarlane cover. The enclosure also identifies a McFarlane Toys advertisement and Spawn Universe checklist.

Why this object matters

The Spears/McFarlane Cover B preserves the 2026 official publication of the early Spawn concept and offers a useful counterpart to the more directly concept-focused McFarlane Cover C. It is outstanding retrospective character-design evidence. The old design's conception date does not make this a 1977 artefact or confer the foundational significance of the original Spawn series.

Evidence limits: Historical conception and physical publication dates remain distinct; no long-term landmark claim for this new miniseries is established.
