Catalogue note

An original 1991 double-sided flyer for 'Obsession — Total Domination of Body, Mind & Soul', presented by Dreem Style Transit (DST), Wirrina Sports Centre, Bishops Road, Peterborough, Friday 13 September 1991. Its riotous blue, orange, pink and black hand-drawn psychedelic cover merges aggressive cartoon faces, mechanical limbs, daisies and optical checkerboards. The reverse advertises a LIVE P.A. by The Prodigy, supported by Grooverider, Fabio, Sean-E, L & B Connexions, Worzal and MC Bassface, with £10 advance tickets plus an unspecified booking fee, 8pm doors, 11pm last entry and an East Anglian record-shop/phone network. Separate Prodigy gig chronologies and local Peterborough history document The Prodigy at Wirrina on the exact date, at the moment when their single 'Charly' stood at UK No.3. The site is a culturally resonant former Northern Soul/punk concert venue demolished in 2010. Distinct from both TMR's 1992 Obsession promoter authority and the current session's different June 1991 Protein flyer at Wirrina.

Advertised programme: LIVE P.A.: THE PRODIGY. DJs: GROOVERIDER ('nuff said'), FABIO ('nuff said!!), SEAN-E (Angelik, Vibrations), L & B CONNEXIONS (Cambs.), WORZAL (The Barn, Colchester); plus M.C. BASSFACE. 'Plus many more special guests' unnamed. All names from printed announcement; no retrospective extrapolation to other The Prodigy band members.

Graphic-design significance: Exceptionally rich early-1990s hand-drawn rave graphic: interwoven vibrant orange/red/black/yellow distressed 'OBSESSION' masthead with DST logo, manic grinning multi-part character, spring-like electrical/organic forms, exploding textures, stylised flower daisies, cut-up mechanical motifs, and an orange checkerboard optical feature on deep blue/grey background. Contrasts with reverse's utilitarian black/red redline bills and logistics. Small marks at illustration edge unresolved; do not invent a popular rave artist credit from stylistic resemblance.

Historical context: The flyer bills a Friday 13 September 1991 live show by the Prodigy, only weeks after XL Recordings released breakthrough 'Charly' (12 August). On the Official Singles Chart for 8–14 September 1991 Charly is No.3, anchoring the event at the point of national breakout, before debut album Experience in 1992. Independent dedicated artist live-show lists identify 13 September as 'Total Domination' at Wirrina, and local historian's venue timeline confirms the Peterborough appearance. The Wirrina venue originally opened in 1968 and hosted northern-soul all-nighters, punk/new wave and other major performers prior to being demolished in 2010. This promoter 'Dreem Style Transit' and use of the word 'Obsession' cannot be merged with the separate Fantazia/Chapter III Obsession 1992 organisation without provenance. Same venue was advertised for another distinct Protein event 8 June 1991 (existing in current session; not necessarily published).

Production note: Printed full-colour cartoon/airbrushed-style composition on front, black and red typography on reverse. Exact colour process, stock, ink, finish and printer unverified.

Condition note: Good to Very Good from photographs: both sides intact with strong saturated blue/red/orange front and legible reverse; noticeable age discolouration/yellowing and small brown surface/edge marks on reverse, especially upper corners and margins, lightly softened corners, small superficial scuffs and a little perimeter wear. No conspicuous large folds, tears, missing paper, tape repairs or pinholes. Not mint or freshly printed. Physical conservation/tactile condition not inspected.

Confidence / uncertainty: Verified directly: promoter Dreem Style Transit; event Obsession; Friday 13 September 1991; venue Wirrina Sports Centre, Bishops Road; 8pm–curfew; Prodigy live PA; five named DJ lines plus MC Bassface, £10 advance plus unspecified fee, last admission 11pm and restrictions. Independently supported: exact date of Prodigy Wirrina show and 'Charly' contemporaneous chart position; local venue chronology and closure. Only advertised: Grooverider/Fabio and other DJ set attendance, extras, claimed rig, venue facilities and additional unnamed special guests. Design artist, dimension, print run and collectible price unknown.
