Biography
Person.
Dean Motter is a comics writer, artist and graphic designer whose work has repeatedly treated architecture, typography and urban design as active parts of speculative storytelling. He is closely associated with Mister X, the retro-futurist series set in Radiant City, where dangerous architecture and modernist visual culture become inseparable from the plot.
Motter later created or developed projects including Terminal City, Electropolis and Batman: Nine Lives, bringing the same interest in design history, noir atmosphere and imagined cities into different comics genres. His practice has also extended into art direction, illustration and album design, making him a particularly clear example of a comics creator whose visual thinking is not limited to drawing panels.
