Biography
Person.
Giovanna Niro is an Italian comics colourist whose work connects the Italian and American publishing industries. Trained at the Scuola Romana dei Fumetti, she began her career in 2006 and worked on children's comics before developing credits with publishers including Image and IDW.
Her work for Sergio Bonelli Editore has included Orfani, Mister No Revolution, Dampyr and Dylan Dog. Other projects include Chrononauts: Futureshock and Batman: Ianus, the latter with artist Nicola Mari. Niro approaches colour as a storytelling element: lighting and palette can establish atmosphere, express a character's emotional state and distinguish different periods within a narrative. She has also taught colouring at the Scuola Romana dei Fumetti.
