Biography
Person.
Collier Schorr is an artist and photographer born in New York City in 1963. She studied at the School of Visual Arts and developed a practice in which portraiture moves between documentary observation and staged fiction, examining identity, performance and the relationship between photographer and subject.
Her work also encompasses editorial and fashion photography. The exhibition 8 Women, shown at 303 Gallery in 2014, brought those strands together. Her photographs have appeared in international museum exhibitions, and her work is held by institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim and the Whitney Museum.
