Baria Qureshi is a musician who played guitar and keyboards in the original four-person line-up of The xx. She began making music with schoolmates Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim before Jamie Smith completed the group. Early interviews document their experiments with a school multitrack recorder and a shared interest in adapting other artists’ songs.
Qureshi performed with the band during the period of its 2009 debut album, xx. Her departure was confirmed in November that year, after which the group continued as a trio.
