Banksy

Banksy is an artist associated with Bristol’s graffiti scene whose work uses stencils, visual jokes and familiar public symbols to address power, conflict and consumer culture. His practice extends from street works and prints to installations, exhibitions and film.

Projects include Banksy versus Bristol Museum in 2009 and Dismaland in 2015. Exit Through the Gift Shop received an Academy Award nomination for documentary feature in 2011. His Grim Reaper painting, originally made on the hull of Bristol’s Thekla nightclub, was later conserved for museum display.
