James Nicholas

James Nicholas is the pen name of British comics writer James Tomlinson. The son of editor Barrie Tomlinson, he grew up reading the adventure comics his father brought home and began writing for the industry shortly after leaving school.

His work appeared in publications including Battle, Eagle and M.A.S.K., placing him within the collaborative world of British weekly adventure comics. He wrote for Battle from 1983 until its merger with Eagle. In later interviews, Tomlinson has recalled his enthusiasm for war, action and science-fiction stories and the experience of moving from reader to professional contributor.
