Biography
Person.
Philip K. Dick was an American writer whose science fiction repeatedly questioned the stability of reality, memory and personal identity. Born in Chicago in 1928, he lived mainly in California and began publishing professionally in the 1950s. His novels include The Man in the High Castle, Ubik, A Scanner Darkly and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Dick’s work often places ordinary people inside systems they cannot fully understand, combining speculative technology with unease about authority and perception. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? became the basis of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner. His writing gained an extensive life in cinema and later collected editions following his death in 1982.
