Tim Simenon

Tim Simenon is a producer and musician best known as the founder of Bomb the Bass. Beat Dis brought his sample-based approach into the British pop charts, assembling fragments of recorded sound into dance music with the cut-and-paste logic of hip-hop.

His production career extended across pop and electronic music, including work on Neneh Cherry’s Buffalo Stance and Seal’s Crazy, as well as collaborations with Depeche Mode. Bomb the Bass records such as Clear and tracks including Bug Powder Dust brought further voices into the project. Simenon’s work connects the sampling culture of late-1980s club music with its subsequent influence on mainstream recording.
