Mark Wigan is an artist, illustrator and club organiser whose drawings documented the style and social life of London's club scene. Working for i-D, he combined illustration with writing and Polaroid photography. His crowded compositions turn dancers, clothes, gestures and nightlife characters into a detailed visual record.
He painted murals for venues including the Scala, Astoria and Limelight, as well as Kensington Market. He also helped establish club nights and spaces including the Brain Club, Love Ranch and Merry England. His practice brings together making images, reporting on nightlife and creating the settings in which that culture developed.
