Biography
Person.
George Pratt is an American painter, comics artist, writer, photographer and educator whose work brings the traditions of illustration and fine-art painting directly into sequential storytelling. His first graphic novel, Enemy Ace: War Idyll, used DC’s First World War character Hans von Hammer to compare the psychological experience of veterans across the First World War and Vietnam, establishing the historical and painterly concerns that recur throughout his career.
Pratt later wrote and painted Batman: Harvest Breed, worked on Wolverine: Netsuke, and contributed to projects including The Sandman while maintaining an active gallery, photographic and teaching practice. His images often retain the visible texture of drawing and paint rather than disguising themselves as conventional production-line comics art.
