Biography
Person.
George Lazenby is an Australian actor and former model whose single appearance as James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service gave him one of the most unusual places in the history of popular cinema. With very limited acting experience, Lazenby succeeded Sean Connery for the 1969 film and played Bond in a story that pushed the character toward emotional vulnerability as well as action, culminating in Bond’s marriage to Tracy di Vicenzo.
Although Lazenby chose not to continue in the role, the film’s reputation grew substantially over subsequent decades, and his one-off performance became inseparable from the franchise’s mythology precisely because it was never repeated. He later worked across European, Asian and American film and television while remaining closely associated with Bond culture.
