Biography
Person.
Lemmy Kilmister was a British singer, bassist and songwriter who founded Motörhead in 1975. He had previously played with Hawkwind and worked as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix. Motörhead's records, including Overkill, Bomber and Ace of Spades, established a hard-driving sound built around his bass playing and distinctive voice.
He remained the band's only continuous member throughout its forty-year career. Beyond recording and touring, Kilmister appeared in films including Hardware and Airheads and became the subject of documentary work. Motörhead released Bad Magic in 2015, the year of his death.
