Biography
Person.
Kate Moss is a British fashion model whose emergence at the beginning of the 1990s helped redefine the visual scale and emotional tone of fashion imagery. Discovered as a teenager, she became internationally known through photographs by Corinne Day, including the 1990 Face cover and editorial that presented a younger, more informal alternative to the polished supermodel ideal then dominating fashion.
Moss’s slight frame, everyday styling and apparent vulnerability were repeatedly interpreted as a break with the glamour of the preceding decade, but her long career quickly expanded far beyond that initial image through work with photographers and designers across every level of the fashion industry. She became one of the most frequently photographed models of her generation, appearing on hundreds of magazine covers and receiving Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2006.
