Biography
Person.
Timothy Dalton is a British actor whose work spans classical theatre, film and television. He studied at RADA before leaving to work in repertory theatre, and made his film debut as Philip of France in The Lion in Winter. His subsequent films included Wuthering Heights and Flash Gordon.
Dalton played James Bond in The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill. Drawing on Ian Fleming’s novels, he brought a harder, more psychologically troubled interpretation to the character. His two performances placed particular emphasis on Bond’s professional ruthlessness and emotional costs, contributing a distinct chapter to the screen history of the British secret agent.
