Jason Pierce

Jason Pierce, also known as J. Spaceman, is a British singer, guitarist and songwriter. After working with Pete Kember in Spacemen 3, he developed Spiritualized, taking the earlier group's sustained tones and repetition towards more expansive arrangements.

Spiritualized's recordings include Lazer Guided Melodies, Pure Phase and Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. The latter brought together gospel voices, orchestral textures and guests including Dr. John. Later albums include Let It Come Down, Songs in A&E, And Nothing Hurt and Everything Was Beautiful. Pierce's work combines the directness of blues and gospel with elaborate studio construction, moving between intimate songs and large, enveloping sound.
