Biography
Person.
Seán O’Hagan is an Irish journalist and critic who grew up in Northern Ireland and began writing about music for the NME in the 1980s. His later work for newspapers including the Observer and Guardian developed a particular focus on photography, through interviews with artists such as Robert Frank, William Eggleston and Nan Goldin.
He received the British Press Award for interviewer of the year in 2003. With Nick Cave he created Faith, Hope and Carnage, a book drawn from extended conversations about music, belief, creativity and grief. Interviews remain central to his approach to cultural criticism.
