James-Lee Duffy

James-Lee Duffy is an artist and art director who co-founded Pavement Licker with writer Josh Jones in 2003. The independent zine placed emerging artists alongside established figures in underground art, creating a meeting point for drawing, writing and street culture.

Duffy also made street work under the name ORKO, developing handmade stickers after moving to Hackney in 2000. He founded We Are Shadows Studio in 2010 and has worked across creative agencies, exhibitions, print and commercial projects. His painting draws on cartoon characters and fragmented childhood memories, using bold marks, splashes and unstable-looking forms to produce images that mix humour with a sense of recognition.
