Dan Colen

Dan Colen is an artist working across painting, sculpture, installation and performance. His paintings range from representational oil works to surfaces made with chewing gum, flowers and metal studs. Through these materials, he examines how familiar objects and marks acquire meaning when placed in an artistic context.

He also founded Sky High Farm, a nonprofit that grows food for donation and works to improve access to fresh produce in underserved New York communities. Its activities extend his practice into farming and food access.
