Biography
Person.
David Shrigley is a British artist whose drawings, photographs and sculptures use plain language and awkward situations to explore everyday life. Born in Macclesfield in 1968, he studied at the Glasgow School of Art. His work often brings humour into contact with anxiety, mortality and the absurd.
He animated the video for Blur’s Good Song in 2003 and produced a weekly Guardian cartoon between 2005 and 2009. His sculptures include ceramic figures and taxidermy works that extend the deadpan approach of his drawings. He was shortlisted for the 2013 Turner Prize.
