Peter York

Peter York is a British author, journalist, broadcaster and cultural commentator whose work examines style, status and social behaviour. He spent a decade as style editor of Harpers & Queen and co-wrote The Official Sloane Ranger Handbook with Ann Barr in 1982, turning the manners and visual codes of a particular British social group into a widely recognised label.

His books include Style Wars, Modern Times and Dictators’ Homes. Peter York’s Eighties, made with Charles Jennings, appeared as both a book and a BBC television series. He has also worked as a management consultant and written about the marketing of identity in Authenticity Is a Con.
