Catalogue note
January 1983 issue of The Face, No. 33, built around its review of 1982 across music, fashion, films and events. The cover is a Peter Ashworth fashion image with Karen-Anne Callen and Perry Haines, later selected by the National Portrait Gallery for The Face Magazine: Culture Shift. Inside are Christopher Reeve, Annabella Lwin, Mari Wilson, Peter York, Robert Gordon, James Truman and Jon Savage, alongside an unusually early report on clubbing at Manchester’s Haçienda, then only months into its life. The rear cover preserves a contemporary DIVA 'The Music' advertisement.
Why this object matters
The Ashworth cover’s documented exhibition selection and early Haçienda report provide specific visual and club-history significance. Retain Gold at 9.1 for the original issue, distinguishing the photographic exhibition context from ownership of an exhibition print.
Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.
