Biography
Person.
Larry Clark is an American photographer and filmmaker, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1943. He began learning photography through his mother's portrait business. His first book, Tulsa (1971), documented the lives of his friends, including drug use and sexuality, in a closely observed account of a young American subculture.
Clark made his feature-film directing debut with Kids (1995), written by Harmony Korine. His later films include Another Day in Paradise, Bully, Wassup Rockers and Marfa Girl. Photography, books and cinema have remained interconnected parts of his work, often returning to adolescence and life outside conventional social structures.
