Biography
Person.
Peter Kennard is a British artist whose political photomontages have circulated through posters, newspapers, books and exhibitions. Born in London, he moved from painting towards photomontage through his involvement in opposition to the Vietnam War. His images for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament include Haywain with Cruise Missiles, which inserts modern weaponry into Constable’s rural landscape.
Kennard has also collaborated with Cat Phillipps as kennardphillipps, using manipulated imagery to challenge the presentation of war and political power. His work is held in major British public collections, and the Imperial War Museum presented his retrospective Unofficial War Artist in 2015.
