Raveworld Part II — Children of the Universe

Tasco Warehouse, Plumstead · 3 May 1992 · Junior Tomlin artwork · early Raveworld warehouse-rave flyer

3 May 1992 · 10pm–8am

Original large fold-out flyer for Raveworld Part II — Children of the Universe at the Tasco Warehouse, Unit 138–140 Nathan Way, Plumstead, on Sunday 3 May 1992, 10pm–8am. Junior Tomlin artwork is recorded as a high-confidence attribution: this copy is not visibly signed, but its Raveworld visual system and distinctive globe/skull/robot-head imagery connect directly with independently attributed Tomlin work for the promoter. The object combines that large-scale cosmic/robotic artwork with detailed event logistics, a two-room DJ/MC bill, ticket agents, transport map, security rules and production claims. Contemporary Ravescene Issue 13 independently advertised Raveworld Part 2 at the same Plumstead warehouse on 3 May, making this a well-corroborated document of the early-1992 London warehouse-rave circuit.

Catalogue note

Advertised programme: DJ's: Colin Dale, Slipmatt, Tin Tin, Fabio, Devious D, Dominic, Rock & Vibes, Tim. Second room: Digital D, Unity, Physics, Taylor, GTI, Jason B, Dance, Rush, Hardcore. MCs: Jay Jay (SLII), Sky (D.E.A.), Remo Don.

Graphic-design significance: Large fold-out design with surreal cosmic imagery, robotic/alien faces, planets and the angular Raveworld logotype. The imagery is closely related to the later September 1992 Raveworld Fascination flyer sequence; exact individual artwork authorship is not printed on this copy and is not asserted without exact-object evidence.

Historical context: Contemporary Ravescene Issue 13 advertises “Raveworld Part 2 ‘Children Of The Universe’ – 3rd May @ The Warehouse, Plumstead” and lists Rave World on Sunday 3 May at Unit 138–140 Nathan Way, corroborating the physical object’s identity and date. Within the surviving Raveworld visual sequence, this flyer is also important as an early example of the distinctive illustrated identity associated with Junior Tomlin, preceding the independently attributed September 1992 Raveworld — Fascination flyer.

Condition note: Fair to Good appearance. Heavy historic fold lines and handling creases, edge/corner wear, short tears and small losses/abrasions are visible, with local staining/marks and pin/fastener-like holes on the information side. The printed programme and major artwork remain substantially legible and visually strong.

Confidence / uncertainty: Date, venue, event title and programme are physically evidenced. Printed performer forms are preserved. No personal artist credit is visible on the supplied object, so no exact-object Junior Tomlin authorship is claimed.

Through the flyers

Event details are drawn from the held object and the qualified catalogue research above. A printed bill establishes an advertised booking, not confirmation that a performer appeared.

Why this object matters

The early Raveworld fold-out preserves utopian imagery and detailed warehouse programming in a substantial designed form. It is outstanding evidence alongside Fascination, but a second event is not automatically foundational. With no exact-object artist credit established, the sheet receives no unsupported Tomlin authorship premium.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.

Historical context

Contemporary Ravescene Issue 13 advertises “Raveworld Part 2 ‘Children Of The Universe’ – 3rd May @ The Warehouse, Plumstead” and lists Rave World on Sunday 3 May at Unit 138–140 Nathan Way, corroborating the physical object’s identity and date. Within the surviving Raveworld visual sequence, this flyer is also important as an early example of the distinctive illustrated identity associated with Junior Tomlin, preceding the independently attributed September 1992 Raveworld — Fascination flyer.

Date evidence

Event title, date, hours, venue and address are physically printed on the supplied flyer. Contemporary Ravescene indexing independently corroborates Raveworld Part 2 at the Plumstead warehouse on 3 May 1992.

Uncertainties

  • No individual Junior Tomlin signature or personal artist credit is visibly printed on this copy; the Tomlin artwork credit is therefore a high-confidence attribution rather than a physically printed credit.
