Biography
Person.
Paul Weller is an English singer, songwriter and musician whose career spans the Jam, the Style Council and solo recordings. The Jam emerged during the British punk period in 1977, combining sharp guitar songs with mod style and influences from rhythm and blues. With the Style Council, formed in 1983, Weller explored soul, jazz and a wider range of pop arrangements.
His solo career developed in the early 1990s, with the self-titled Paul Weller album released in 1992. Subsequent records continued his interest in songcraft and changing musical settings. His influence on later British musicians, and his sustained association with mod culture, helped establish the widely used nickname the Modfather.
