Biography

Person.

Rafael Grampá is a Brazilian comics artist, writer and filmmaker whose pages are packed with movement, strange anatomy and gloriously obsessive detail. His creator-owned graphic novel Mesmo Delivery introduced an international audience to a style that feels part action film, part fever dream.

He has since drawn and reimagined characters including Batman, Superman and Wolverine. For Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham, a four-part DC Black Label series, Grampá handled both writing and art, building his own bruised, gothic version of Gotham City.

Even when working with famous corporate characters, his drawings never feel anonymous: the line, rhythm and visual noise are unmistakably his.
