Biography
Person.
Harry Saltzman (1915–1994) was a Canadian theatre and film producer best known for his partnership with Albert R. Broccoli on the James Bond films. His work also helped establish a different strand of British cinema: in 1958 he founded Woodfall with director Tony Richardson and playwright John Osborne.
Woodfall’s early films included Look Back in Anger and Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, central works of British social realism. Saltzman also produced The Ipcress File, adapting Len Deighton’s espionage novel. His career connected independent British filmmaking with the international expansion of the screen spy thriller.
