Catalogue note

i-D No. 254, The Age Issue, May 2005, with Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana photographed by Tesh. The cover turns the issue's concern with age into explicit metadata by printing Fontana's age alongside the credit. i-D later selected this image in a retrospective of Edward Enninful's defining 2000s covers, giving the issue additional value as part of the magazine's own visual canon. The supplied rear view is a Gucci advertisement and is preserved as period fashion-advertising context.

Why this object matters

The cover’s explicit age framing and Tesh/Enninful creative context make an outstanding issue-specific design statement. The publisher’s later retrospective supports its relevance, but does not alone require the former 8.9.

Evidence limits: Complete — all pages/components assumed present under the standing TMR completeness rule; no missing issued supplement, insert, wrap or other component has been reported.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.7 / 10.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
