Catalogue note

Original double-sided flyer for Jump Promotions’ Utopia 2, advertised at Bowes Lyon House in Stevenage on 10 April 1992. The reverse preserves two-room DJ programming, £10 + 10% booking / £13 door pricing, a 15K Turbo sound system, UVs, lasers, live video, dancers, chill-out facilities, refreshments, merchandise, a membership-card application and a favourite-DJ ballot. Its own copy describes the music as “HARDCORE house & dance music,” making the flyer valuable contemporary evidence of rave-era terminology and regional youth-culture infrastructure in early 1992.

Advertised programme: The reverse physically credits “FLYER BY TERRY, JOE, GENTRY, PETER.” Main-room billing includes Acid Andy, Wizards of Oz, DJ Sharp, Nick Greed, Louis R, Terry B and Munchie, with special guest DJs Doug Osbourne and Swann-E. Play Room billing includes Nigel Hurst, DJ Kettle, DJ Promo, Kieran C, DJ J-Tec and Rich T. Swann-E is identified; the other names retain their printed forms without further identification.

Event details are drawn from the held object and the qualified catalogue research above. A printed bill establishes an advertised booking, not confirmation that a performer appeared.

Why this object matters

The intact membership application and DJ-voting coupon make Utopia 2 an outstanding regional youth-venue document. Its value is comparable with Reflections and Zenith's detailed local programming. Venue continuity and ordinary event logistics do not by themselves demonstrate Gold-level distinction.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.8 / 10.
