Catalogue note
Original double-sided flyer for Next Generation Promotions’ Hyperactive — The Return at Cagney's Nite Club, Station Hill, Reading on Saturday 6 June 1992, 9pm–6am. The Kaos-signed front depicts the Hyperactive character at turntables. The reverse supplies a timed programme including Tony Trax, Jumpin Jack Frost, Rough Justice, Frankie Shag Bones, Ian Bones & Kenny Charles of Destiny 99.3 and Carl Cox, plus MCs. Particularly revealing promoter copy acknowledges Carl Cox’s failure to appear at the previous event and promises his 90-minute closing set as compensation.
Advertised programme: 9pm Tony Trax; 10pm–12am Jumpin Jack Frost — two hours of Ruff & Tumble; 12am–1am Rough Justice; 1am–2:30am Frankie Shag Bones; 2:30am–4:30am Ian Bones & Kenny Charles of Destiny 99.3; 4:30am–6am Carl Cox. MCs: The Mystic Man, MC Mob X, Violent Desire.
Graphic-design significance: The front uses a large caricature of ‘Mr Hyper’ at turntables against a blue airbrushed background, signed Kaos. The deliberately exaggerated cartoon style, Active-branded cap and hand-rendered Hyperactive decks are strong examples of rave’s character-based graphic language.
Historical context: The reverse presents Hyperactive as a return to Cagney's after an ‘overwhelming success’ and sold-out visit. It gives a full running order, £10 member / £15 non-member pricing, regional outlets and agents, and a conspicuous behavioural code: ‘NO VICKS - NO P?????? - NO THUGS - NO DRUGS - NO ATTITUDES’. The Carl Cox slot is promoted as making amends for his failure to appear previously, providing unusually specific evidence of promoter/audience accountability.
Condition note: Strong colour and high legibility overall. The sheet shows historic horizontal and vertical folding/creasing, light edge and corner wear, scattered surface marks and small local creases. The reverse has a conspicuous vertical strip of surface/paper loss or adhered residue along the right edge, obscuring portions of the ticketing/outlet panel. No attempt is made to reconstruct hidden text.
Confidence / uncertainty: Exact event/date/venue, schedule, pricing and promoter wording are physically verified. The front is visibly signed ‘Kaos’; no full designer identity is inferred. Jumpin Jack Frost is retained as a printed performer credit because no existing TMR authority was found in the authority search.
