Catalogue note
VICE UK Volume 3 Number 10, The Horror Issue, with a Terry Richardson cover depicting a hooded Grim Reaper holding a scythe above dripping red horror-film typography. The issue uses horror as both subject and editorial framework, ranging from horror cinema, funerary instruction and horror villains to gore scoring, Halloween, nuclear monsters and outsider figures. Its deliberately cheap, costume-shop Reaper aesthetic is characteristic of early VICE’s irreverent visual language and contrasts sharply with the increasingly polished photographic covers represented elsewhere in TMR’s later VICE sequence.
