Catalogue note
Original British Picturegoer Weekly No. 333 (New Series), Vol. 7, dated 9 October 1937, with Jon Hall and Dorothy Lamour on the colour cover under the line “Love in a Hurricane”. Inside, Jock Lawrence reports on the making of Samuel Goldwyn’s The Hurricane, illustrating South Seas location work, the production’s large-scale artificial village and lagoon, and the attempt to reproduce a catastrophic tropical storm for the screen. The issue therefore functions not simply as star publicity but as a contemporary pre-release document of Hollywood production technology and location filmmaking.
