Catalogue note
Original fold-out launch programme for Entropy and New Dawn's Dance Nation weekly club at The Academy, Glass Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. Opening Friday 4 June 1993 and continuing through 11, 18 and 25 June, Studio One bills Ratty, Top Buzz, Ratpack, Phantasy, Seduction, Fabio, Gemini, DJ SS, Slipmatt, Hype, DJ Rap and Pilgrim, while Studio Two runs weekly house, piano and garage programming. Includes promoter manifesto, membership application, venue map and Generate design credit.
Advertised programme: Studio One — every Friday, MC Lethal, MC Storm and Homeboy Daz Willot. Opening Night 4 June 1993: Ratty; Top Buzz; Ratpack. 11 June: Phantasy; Seduction; Fabio. 18 June: Gemini; DJ SS; Slipmatt. 25 June: Hype; DJ Rap; Pilgrim. Studio Two — every week: Mark Green; Maximes; Nigel Dawson; Renaissance; Duncan Bruce; Golden; Antix; New Dawn; billed as playing house, piano & garage.
Graphic-design significance: Generate is physically credited as designer. The programme uses a disciplined red, grey, black and white system with an elaborate DN shield/crest, mirrored geometric framing, oversized condensed DANCE NATION typography and recurring dancing-figure symbols. The same identity carries through cover, programme, membership form and map, reinforcing Dance Nation as a repeatable weekly club concept.
Historical context: Entropy already has a documented TMR history including the 1992 Dance Nation Summer Ball with Quest. This June 1993 object shows the Dance Nation identity being repurposed into a weekly Hanley club project with New Dawn. UK Acid House independently catalogues the exact Entropy/New Dawn Dance Nation programme at The Academy in June 1993. The flyer says the venue had a complete overhaul in the previous six months and presents two rooms, virtual-reality decoration, aerial projections and an advanced sound system as part of a 'whole new concept in dance production'.
Production note: Multi-colour red/grey/black printed design on coated paper/card stock; exact printing process and stock not established.
Condition note: Very Good appearance, ungraded. Original central fold and panel construction are integral. Light edge/corner handling, minor rubbing and small local marks, with slight fold wear. Colours and typography strong and all information legible; no major tears or paper loss.
Confidence / uncertainty: All four dates and opening-night status are physically verified. UK Acid House independently corroborates the programme. Ratty is linked to established DJ Ratty authority. Ratpack remains a group/act credit. Gemini, Pilgrim, Daz Willot, MC Lethal, MC Storm and Studio Two residents remain printed credits unless identity is securely resolved. Promotional claims about the 'most spectacular dance arena of 1993', sound system and virtual reality are preserved as promoter language.
