Catalogue note
Double-sided original-period Equinox / Funhouse Promotions programme for four Fridays at Milwaukees in Souldrop from 12 February to 5 March 1993. Its highly characteristic blue wireframe EQUINOX front and diagonal neon back preserve date-specific bills including Grooverider, Micky Finn, DJ SS, LTJ Bukem, Slipmatt, Carl Cox and DJ Rap, along with original £12 admission, 9–6 all-night hours, loudspeaker/lighting specifications and an unusually informative promoter note about the club's 1992–93 development.
Advertised programme: Friday 12 FEB: GROOVERIDER; MICKEY FINN; DJ SS; RAY KEITH; RATTY; SWAN'E; THE TORCHMAN. Friday 19 FEB: ELLIS DEE; JUMPING JACK FROST; DOUGAL; SEDUCTION; LTJ BUKEM; PHANTASY; FAT CONTROLLER. Friday 26 FEB: TOP BUZZ; DONOVAN BAD BOY SMITH; SLIPMATT + LIME; RATTY; HARDCORE MASSIVE; MASTER LEE. Friday 5 MAR: CARL COX; MICKEY FINN; PHANTASY; CLARKEE; MASTERSAFE; DOUGAL; DJ RAP. Every act is advertised; individual appearances not independently verified.
Graphic-design significance: The cover places large warm red-to-purple EQUINOX lettering with yellow outlines against a hazy blue-purple horizon, glowing cyan perspectival wireframe grid and angular/pyramidal virtual forms, with the small THE FUN HOUSE PROMOTIONS mark. The reverse adopts jagged diagonal cobalt-blue and hot pink/red date zones, overprinted in alternating contrasting letter colours, with huge asymmetrical date numerals. Specific designer and graphic process remain unknown; do not claim authorship by Tim Waters.
Historical context: The four original printed weeks are Friday 12 February, Friday 19 February, Friday 26 February and Friday 5 March 1993, at Milwaukees near Souldrop. Equinox was inaugurated at Milwaukees in April 1992 according to specialist history, after the earlier ESP Supernova and Helter Skelter use of the venue. The original promoter copy claims these Equinox nights had become the longest-running rave series at the venue and thanks audiences supporting the venture throughout 1992 and into 1993; the 'since the birth in 1988' phrase concerns earlier venue-era history and must NOT be used to redate Equinox's inaugural event to 1988. Original back lists door admission £12, opening '9 TILL 6 EVERY FRIDAY' (reasonably 9pm–6am for all-nighters), advertised 25K Cerwin Vega system + 5K additional sub-bass, and multiple named effects. Claims of equipment performance or all-time promoter superlatives have not been independently measured or verified.
Production note: Colour commercial print showing smooth graphic gradients and flat two-colour-style reverse; method and paper stock not independently verified.
Condition note: Front has vivid unbroken main title and grid illustration, a subtle upper-left and upper-right corner bend/edge wear, tiny edge rubs and light surface specks. Reverse retains intensely legible blue/red typography, mild handling and slight margin/corner wear, especially bottom edge; no conspicuous major tear, loss, staining or pronounced full-fold visible. Exact stock, dimensions, possible past restoration and the rear surface's finest flaws not established from photos.
Confidence / uncertainty: 1993 directly supported by object copy and calendar. Visual bands are diagonal; date attribution verified by background colour AND inverted letter colour rather than left-to-right horizontal grouping. THE TORCHMAN is Friday 12 (red on blue); FAT CONTROLLER is Friday 19 (blue on red); HARDCORE MASSIVE and MASTER LEE lie in Friday 26 blue zone. Printed MICKEY FINN mapped to well-linked Micky Finn TMR authority (rather than unlinked duplicate Mickey Finn). Printed SWAN'E mapped to well-linked Swann-E (not unlinked Swan-E). RATTY to DJ Ratty (not unlinked Ratty). PHANTASY to established primary Phantasy (not secondary DJ Phantasy). Master Lee and Hardcore Massive remain billed terms rather than invented identifiable people. Reported 1988 claim not validated as Equinox start date.
