Catalogue note
Original opening-month 1992 Nemesis/Amnesia RAGE flyer for Florence House, St Nicholas Place, Leicester. A remarkable blue cosmic image frames a direct promotional declaration of the club's launch, 'Opening Night' Friday 17 April 1992, with four consecutive full-night DJ bills through 8 May: Top Buzz, Grooverider, Ray Keith, DJ SS, MJP, Mastersafe, Mikey B, Doc Scott, Keith Suckling, Clarkee, Slipmatt, Micky Finn, Ratty and others. Reverse documents £13 door admission, 9pm–6am hours, three-floor venue claims, promoter-designed club culture and a blank membership application. Northwestern University independently holds a 17 April–8 May 1992 Rage flyer, and the following June–July programme is already in TMR-000955.
Advertised programme: 17 APR OPENING: TOP BUZZ (London); GROOVE RIDER (Amnesia); RAY KEITH (London); MJP (Nemesis); DJ SS (Nemesis); MASTERSAFE (Nemesis); MIKEY B (Raindance). 24 APR: KEITH SUCKLING (N.H.S.); FRANKIE VALENTINE (London); DOC SCOTT (N.H.S.); DJ SS (Nemesis); MJP (Nemesis); LUKE (Amnesia); NEIL/VAS (London). 1 MAY: CLARKEE (Northampton); RON (London); GROOVE RIDER (Amnesia); MIKEY B (Raindance); MJP (Nemesis); DJ SS (Nemesis); MASTERSAFE (Nemesis). 8 MAY: SLIPMATT (Raindance); TOP BUZZ (London); MICKY FINN (London); MJP (Nemesis); RATTY (Fibre Optic); TANGO (Total Kaos); LUKE (Bang-in-Tunes); DJ SS (Nemesis). Advertisements, not independent confirmations of DJ participation.
Graphic-design significance: The atmospheric cover is expansive late-1980s/early-1990s visionary/space fantasy: a rising silhouetted figure raises both arms towards fiery luminous ring while blue comet trail and auroral arcs span mountains, reflective water and a golden landscape. Oversized curved NEMESIS AMNESIA masthead and massive blue RAGE lettering reinforce a transcendent club identity; utilitarian high-contrast reverse uses heavy condensed names and four horizontal night divisions to communicate a substantial launch line-up. Uncredited artwork; no artist/photographer invented.
Historical context: Nemesis Promotions and Amnesia House collaborated to launch RAGE at Florence House, St Nicholas Place, Leicester, advertising 'OPENING NIGHT FRIDAY 17th APRIL' and subsequent Friday 24 April, 1 May and 8 May events. Northwestern University catalogues the corresponding 17 April–8 May 1992 programme and Phatmedia independently indexes the same opening event. Specialist Borosix history connects promoter Micky Lynas to the collaboration, recollecting refurbishment/murals; this is independently sourced history, not a name on this flyer. The reverse declares the club 'owned and run by us and designed by ravers for ravers', advertising three dance floors, a chillout zone and advanced sound/lighting: promoter declarations not independent ownership, floorplan or technical verification. Original £13 pay-on-door, 9pm–6am Friday all-night slots and a separately printed Saturday/Sunday members-only notice preserve access rules. An original RAGE June–July 1992 five-Friday programme survives as TMR-000955, making a coherent opening-to-expansion chronology. MACE preserves 29 June 1992 Central Television interviews with a Leicester Nemesis promoter in the wider regional rave context, not proof of any April DJ set.
Production note: Full-colour illustration front with clean contrasting black-on-white reverse; exact print process and paper grade unverified.
Condition note: Strong saturated blue night-sky image, intact cosmic figure, title and panorama. Minor scattered small surface/edge specks and rubs, faint handling/crease towards top-left cover and slight corner/edge softening; reverse is fully legible with light margin wear and a subtle upper-right handling crease. There is no obvious major tear, trimming, significant stain or material loss from provided images. Paper type, exact size, pin/tape traces and any restoration unverified without in-hand inspection.
Confidence / uncertainty: The physical sheet lacks a literal '1992' near headings; the year is independently documented by Northwestern University MS187 exact 17 Apr–8 May 1992 and by Phatmedia for opening night. The four printed Friday dates match 1992 calendar. 'GROOVE RIDER' on reverse is linked to canonical TMR Grooverider; 'RATTY' linked DJ Ratty (not dormant 'Ratty'); 'RON' London high-confidence existing DJ Ron but stage name alone is not independently certified; printed 'MIKEY B' is not Micky Finn. Ambiguous 'NEIL/VAS' and general 'LUKE' are transcribed verbatim with no invented new person identities; Frankie Valentine one-off billing also remains literal. The original claims three dance floors, while later TMR-000955 divides DJ bills into Top and Lower Floor: no assumption three simultaneous lineups. Neither physical sheet nor Phatmedia establishes designer name.
